Research and Professional Interests
Science Education: Addressing areas of national need in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) including: 1) Curricular reform, 2) Student and teacher preparation and 3) STEM pipeline and workforce development.

Undergraduate Research Experience
Synthesis of group IVB metallocene polymers designed to influence plant growth and seed germination.

Research Interests

My primary research interests are in Chemical and STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Education, including an assessment of the impact of pedagogical interventions on student learning, development and perception. Some research questions include:

  • What is the impact of student engagement in undergraduate research and mentoring on retention and student success? Are there differences on impact within certain sub-populations? E.g. First generation, transfer students, under-represented minorities etc.;
  • How does undergraduate research involvement (within and outside of the curriculum) affect changes in student learning outcomes?
