Dr. Royle is a research associate at Cleveland State University's Criminology Research Center. Working with local law enforcement and victim advocacy groups, her work centers on violent crimes and employs a number of methods to evaluate programs and policies. Specifically, she uses spatial analytical tools to better understand specific crime type trends across city and county levels. She graduated with her M.A. and Ph.D. from Sam Houston State University. There, she developed data management, longitudinal analysis, qualitative analysis, and spatial analysis skills. Her dissertation focused on health criminology from a life course perspective, specifically assessing how early sleep problems and alcohol use relate to later life offending patterns. Prior to attending Sam Houston State University, she earned a B.S. in biology with a minor in neuroscience from the University of Maine. There, she was an undergraduate research assistant in a chronopsychobiology lab studying the role of alcohol use in circadian entrainment. She enjoys teaching and enabling student learning.
